Where is my mind?
Every now and then, we all do things we're not proud of. Things that really make you stop and ask, what was I thinking? Well, I fell victim to one of those moments last week. It took me 5 days to even share it with my husband because it was just so stupid. Small, but stupid.
Thursdays are usually my big grocery shopping days. I usually meal plan for the next 7 days Wednesday night so I'm organized and ready to gather supplies on Thursday. I had found some good coupon offers online for some things I usually don't buy (snack stuff mostly). One such item was sour cream and onion Chex Mix. Thursday night after the baby was in bed (Mr C was at work and J was at his moms), I settled in for some Netflix and some Chex Mix. Friday morning, I threw all the stuff that needed to come downstairs in a laundry basket that was full of dirty clothes. Items like my water cup, cell phone, the mostly full bag of Chex Mix, a dirty diaper... you know... the usual mom smorgasbord. When I got downstairs, I distributed the stuff to their various homes (sink, trash can, etc). Or so I thought.
Friends... I had left the Chex Mix in with the dirty laundry. And I didn't notice it when I dumped the laundry into the washing machine. I did, however, notice it when I went to switch the laundry. Crumbs everywhere, the empty bag resting on top of the washed clothes. Never before has my laundry had such a savory smell to it. Needless to say, I removed the trash and as much of the snack mix as I could before running it all through the wash cycle again (on heavy duty, mind you).
The purpose of this blog is to let you know that if you ever have days where your head feels disconnected from your body, days where you are surprised you made it out of the house with matching shoes, or days where you wonder how you survive without an adult to guide you, you're not alone. Ignore those "perfect" mom posts on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. That's not real life. Real life is occasionally finding crumbs in your clean laundry...
